Is Invisalign painful?
Invisalign is generally not overly painful, but you may feel some mild discomfort or pressure when you switch to a new set of aligners. This is a sign that the aligners are working and gently shifting your teeth into place. Most patients describe it as tightness rather than pain, and the sensation usually goes away within a day or two. Invisalign is designed to be more comfortable than traditional braces with no wires or brackets.
Can I just wear my Invisalign aligners at night?
Invisalign aligners need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day to be effective. Just wearing them at night won’t provide enough consistent pressure to move your teeth properly. If the aligners aren’t worn as directed, it can delay your treatment progress or lead to poor results. For the best outcome, make sure you wear your aligners throughout the day and only remove them when eating, drinking (except water), or brushing.
How do you keep Invisalign aligners clean?
To keep your Invisalign aligners clean, rinse them with lukewarm water every time you take them out and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and clear, unscented soap. Avoid using hot water, which can warp the plastic. It’s also a good idea to soak them in Invisalign cleaning crystals or a mild denture cleaner a few times a week. Clean teeth help keep your aligners clear, so be sure to brush or at least rinse with water before putting them back in.
